New People’s Army (NPA) – The military wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) also based on the island of Mindanao. Classified by the Americans as a terrorist organization, but not so by the Philippine Government. Several members, including the groups founder, Jose Maria Sison live in self imposed exile in the Netherlands and direct operations from there. Been in peace negotiations with the Philippine government since Feb. ’04. Cease Fire Ended Jan ‘05
